FAQ

The FAQ will be updated as questions come in/the game progresses. Feel free to comment on this post with questions and the mods will address them.
Game Questions

What is Jade Mountain Academy?
Jade Mountain Academy is an AU sandbox game based on the Wings of Fire (WoF) series by Tui Sutherland. The game is based on the canon school of the same name. In short, it is a dragon high school AU.

What does the AU element entail?
Pyrrhia is a world of dragons, so character's would be AU'd as a dragon within one of the seven dragon tribes (each with their own society values and physical traits). More information on Pyrrhia can be found here.

Is there a character cap?
Characters are currently capped at 30 for the game. Players are allowed a max of two characters. Is a canon cap of 5 character per non-WoF canon.

Is there a network?
At this time, there is no in-game network.

Character Questions

What if someone apped my character before?
They will be treated as a new student who may be uncannily similar to a previous student.

Can my character be a non-Wings of Fire dragon?
No, they would still need to be AU’d for Wings of Fire.

Can my character bring a pet with them?
Yes but if they are disruptive they might be confiscated so you have to be sneaky. At this time, humans are not allowed as pets.

What if I want to app a character from a different time period (ie. the Legends books)?
Assume they found some sort of time travel animus gadget and have been flung into the past/future.

Can my OC/AU’d character have a connection to a canon character?
Only if that relationship does not impact the character’s canon experience. For example, if you want to app one of Tsunami’s unnamed 30 brothers that’s fine, but an additional sibling for Clay or Starflight is not.

While tribe specific rare skills/animus magic is limited for player characters, would one be able to incorporate those into their character’s backstory (ie. having a relative or acquaintance with those powers)?
Yes, so long as it does not directly impact the game or other players.

How is canon-updating handled?
Since this is primarily an AU setting, canon-updates are not permitted.

What kind of events are there?
Events will be mainly focused on school related SOL events, though may include more plot heavy events on occassion.

How can plots/events be suggested
